 January 2018 - June 2018 - Mortons Media Ltd, Digital Marketing Executive

I worked in both the digital team and the marketing team to help more with marketing areas of the business.

 

September 2017 - January 2018 - Mortons Media Ltd, Digital Media Executive

I received a four-month internship at the Publishing company working as a Digial Media Executive. This internship was then extended until June 2018.

May 2017 - NME work experience placement

I had a week's work experience in London at New Musical Express magazine. While there, I transcribed interviews with singers, researched information for articles, wrote an article and think of questions to ask Dan from Bastille. 

February - March 2017 - Mortons Media Ltd, two week work placement

Starting in February, I had a two week placement with publisher Mortons Media. I worked in various departments including; digital, pictures desk, editorial, design, marketing and advertising. 

 

November 2016 - Proactive PR International, work experience placement
One day a week I worked at Proactive PR where I wrote press releases, generated content for their official blog, wrote coverage reports and completed media trackers for the company’s clients. I also worked on their social media platforms, creating Tweets, Facebook posts and statuses for its LinkedIn profile.

October 2016 - present - Stuart Wilde Photography
From October, I started helping Stuart out on photography shoots; this includes helping to set up lighting, take and edit my own photos, shadow him as a photographer, interact with people and work in various locations and different times of day. I have photographed events such as corporate bookings, a ground-breaking ceremony for the Lincolnshire council, public events and performances and weddings.

 

July 2016 - Hull Daily Mail, week placement (Also in December 2014 and June 2015)

During summer, I helped out with a variety of journalistic tasks around the office, including filling out the community ‘Your News’ section, shadowing reporters on jobs, interviewing people over the phone and dictating in Teeline shorthand.

 

June 2016 - present - Freelance writer for Kettle Mag Online

In my free time I write for an online student website called Kettle Mag where I can pitch ideas and write articles. It has helped improve my online skills, as well as covering different areas of news and understanding copyright. This platform allows me to develop my writing style in areas I aim to be creative with in the future; lifestyle, culture, sports and issues relating to women.

In February 2017, I became the sports editor of Kettle Mag Online.

 

January 2016 - BBC Studio Hull

I had a tour of the BBC Studios in Hull organised with David Burns, BBC Radio Humberside morning show presenter, who allowed me to listen in on his live show to see how it was presented. Following this, I attended the post-show meeting with a researcher and the producer. This helped my recall of radio journalism.

 

Christmas 2015 - University of Lincoln, School News Day

I was invited by my print module tutor at university to help work at a school event where primary school children had to make a newspaper. This involved proof-reading their work, showing them how to use Adobe InDesign, help put together a news page using the software, and adapt to teaching a younger team.

 

2014 to present - Contributor for The Linc

While at university I write articles for The Linc, reporting for the lifestyle and style sections of the student newspaper. I am able to incorporate the skills learnt from my course into writing content specific to areas of interest for me. In my third year I have been assigned a role as photographer of the style section.

Projects

In my third year at university I was the editor of a 40 page magazine about sex and relationships designed on Adobe InDesign. I was responsible for assigning roles to the three other team members, designing pages, writing content, time management, generating feature ideas, overseeing the layout, appearance and content of the magazine, proof reading and working to a deadline.

For the second magazine of the module, I was the digital editor. I created and designed our website and was responsible for uploading and editing content.
